A superb joint initiative from The Elmet Trust, Bluemoose Books and Hebden Bridge Arts Festival was launched in February 2016 to raise money for flood relief following the devastating Boxing Day 2015 deluge. The Watermarks writing competition offered the chance for winning entrants to see their work in print; with all proceeds from the sale of the resulting anthology being donated to Calder Valley Flood Relief.
The four categories were judged by eminent local writers Clare Shaw, Melvin Burgess, Ben Myers and Liz Flanagan and their choices will be unveiled at the book launch during Hebden Bridge Arts Festival 2016. The launch takes place on Wednesday 29th June at 6.30pm at The Book Case on Market Street, Hebden Bridge, followed by a national launch at Manchester’s Portico Library on Tuesday 5th July at 6.30pm.
A member of the Made It Theatre team was delighted to be awarded a prize in the short story category and will be reading their story on the night.
